Where is the nearest grocery store?

A man stopped me as I walked past on Brannan during my lunch break. He wanted to know where the nearest grocery store is. After directing him to the Safeway 3 blocks away, he proceeded to wax poetic about what a wasteland SOMA is. Apparently he just wanted to buy some wine to help him get through jury duty.
